The Royal Dutch Motorcyclists Association (KNMV) is at the heart of motorcycling in the Netherlands. They play a central, relevant role for all riders, motorsport enthusiasts, and motorcycle lovers. Originally founded on June 26, 1904, as the Dutch Motorcycle Riders Association (NMV), the association was granted the 'Royal' designation in 1917. Today, KNMV has over 55,000 members and more than 300 affiliated motorcycle clubs.
Motocross is one of the sports with the most license holders within KNMV. Every year, numerous competitions are organized, including both national and international events, and KNMV works with hundreds of motorcycle clubs.

The reason for the collaboration

Previously, registrations for motocross races were handled by the affiliated clubs, each using their own methods. License verification often took place on the day of the event, leading to inconsistencies, delays, and risks (such as insurance issues if a license was not valid).KNMV saw the need to streamline this process and make it more reliable. Their goal was to provide a uniform, efficient, and user-friendly way to handle both license checks and registrations. It also needed to be easier for riders to see which races they are eligible for, and for organizers to be assured that everything is in order before the event.

Collaboration with KNMV and Eventgoose

To achieve this, KNMV partnered with Eventgoose, a Dutch ticketing and registration provider offering a scalable, modular event management solution. Through the Eventgoose platform, KNMV could centrally manage all competitions, including ticket shops and registrations. However, the motorsport domain required more customization than a standard ticketing system could provide. For each rider, the app had to check whether they hold a valid license. This is why Moonly, as the preferred software partner for Eventgoose, was brought in to develop the mobile application. Working closely with the teams from KNMV and Eventgoose, Moonly designed and developed the Licence2Race app!
