vanRaam is a leading manufacturer of innovative, customized bicycles, including tricycles, wheelchair bikes, and tandem bikes, with mobility and inclusivity at their core. vanRaam believes that staying mobile longer brings happiness, and they work daily to fulfill this important social mission through their international dealer network and a passionate team of around 270 employees. Their sustainable and contemporary custom bikes provide people with disabilities and those who cannot ride a standard two-wheeler the opportunity to move freely and independently. Each bicycle is built to order and fully tailored to the individual user, from tricycles to wheelchair bikes and tandems.

The challenge behind the scenes

The existing vanRaam e-bike app was technically outdated and no longer met the expectations of modern users and platforms. As a result, increasing issues arose: the app became unstable, Bluetooth connections were unreliable, and essential functionalities did not work properly. Additionally, updating the app became more difficult as both Apple and Google discontinued support. All these factors led to unwanted interruptions for more than 15,000 active users. The app no longer aligned with vanRaam’s high standards and ambitious goals.

Collaboration between vanRaam & Moonly

‍To ensure the continuity, reliability, and future-proofing of the app, vanRaam partnered with Moonly in 2024. The goal of this collaboration was to develop a completely new e-bike app, equipped with modern technologies and built on a future-ready architecture. The focus was not only on technical stability and scalability but also on delivering a contemporary, visually compelling user experience that aligns with vanRaam’s refreshed brand identity. Together, we are ensuring that thousands of cycling enthusiasts can once again enjoy their rides without worry.

What was the project objective?

The goal was to develop a future-proof and user-friendly app that meets all technical and visual requirements. The new app needed to preserve existing customer data, strengthen connectivity, and be prepared for future digital expansions. Using an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) approach allowed for rapid deployment, delivering quick value and laying a solid foundation for ongoing development.
